Ben Shapiro, editor of the conservative the website Breitbart.com, and Truth Revolt, a project of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, are calling for a boycott of Ritz Crackers, which advertises during the Rev. Al Sharpton’s MSNBC TV show.
The conservative groups are upset that Ritz Crackers refused to answer their questions about Sharpton's TV show and a 1994 statement made by the civil rights host, notes The Daily Beast.
Writing on TruthRevolt.org, Shapiro stated:
In 1994, Sharpton stood before a crowd at Kean College in New Jersey. “White folks was in the caves while we was building empires,” he said. “We built pyramids before Donald Trump even knew what architecture was…We taught philosophy and astrology [sic] and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it…Do some cracker come and tell you, ‘Well my mother and father blood go back to the Mayflower,’ you better hold your pocket. That ain’t nothing to be proud of, that means their forefathers was crooks.”
TruthRevolt.org's boycott page cites more reasons for the boycott, including Sharpton’s role in the Tawana Brawley case, Crown Heights riots and rallies against George Zimmerman to protest the shooting of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin.
