Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina urged Americans to remain wary of President Barack Obama’s negotiations in the controversial trade agreement that he and Congress are working to create.

“Unfortunately, the president has demonstrated his ability to talk at a very high level about goals we can all agree on and then it turns out that the devil that is in the details is so different from those goals,” Fiorina said during her appearance on former New York City mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis’ radio program on June 21.

“This president has burned bridges of trust with the American people,” the former Hewlett-Packard CEO said. She urged the president to “talk to us about this trade agreement, what’s in it and why it’s good for America.”

She said she would continue to oppose any deal made, despite both parties working together on the legislation, because of the administration’s ambiguity.

“It is a complicated, multi-party agreement that has been negotiated in secret over years. We don’t really know what’s in it. The president hasn’t told us, and neither have the Republicans and Democrats who are pushing it,” she added.

Fiorina also stated her belief in enforcing rules, particularly with foreign nations that may be cheating to advance their own economies and strategies.

“I’m a big believer in free and fair trade, but I also know that we have trading partners like China violate trade agreements all the time,” she commented.

In the latest poll conducted by NBC News and The Wall Street Journal, Fiorina has gained ground with Republican voters. She received 31 percent of Republican support, a large increase from the 17 percent support she received two months ago.
