Candidate for Governor of Rhode Island Smokes Medical Marijuana in Ad (Video)

Most politicians are reluctant to take a stand for medical marijuana, but one candidate for governor in Rhode Island recently smoked pot in a new campaign ad.

In a new advertisement (video below), Anne Armstrong, a write-in candidate, explains how she uses cannabis everyday for a physical condition.

She claims that pot helps her “focus” and “facilitate communication,” notes

“We’ve been lied to a long time by our government,” states Armstrong. “Something that’s been essential to our health has been taken away from us.”

“Yes, I do smoke cannabis, and yes, I do inhale,” adds Armstrong, who lights her pipe and takes a puff of marijuana.

Armstrong also explained her platform on her Facebook page:

I have a vision for our state where common sense, compassion, and cooperation can re-create Rhode Island into a place where everyone can live in abundance.

Armstrong was going to law school when she was diagnosed with swine flu. Armstrong dropped out of law school, got a medicinal marijuana card and started a medicinal marijuana clinic.

“I’ve seen miraculous things happen,” Armstrong told ABC News. “I walk around saying I’m going to be the next governor, but I’m not attached to the outcome. It’s an opportunity to send this message to the people. That’s why I stepped up, that’s why I’m doing it.”
