Bristol Palin, the daughter of former half-term Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, and Fox News co-host Andrea Tantaros slammed President Obama today for inviting Ahmed Mohamed, a 14-year-old Muslim, to the White House (video below).
Mohamed was arrested by police in Irving, Texas, on Monday after he brought a digital clock that he built himself to school. Police originally charged him with constructing a fake bomb, but after public outcry, it was announced Mohamed won't be charged.
Obama tweeted on Wednesday: "Cool clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It's what makes America great."
Bristol wrote on her blog: "This is the kind of stuff Obama needs to STAY out of. This encourages more racial strife that is already going on with the 'Black Lives Matter' crowd and encourages victimhood."
"The police made a mistake, clearly."
"But why put more people against them? Why egg it on? Childish games like this from our president have divided our country … even more today than when he was elected."
However, Obama didn't mention the police or #BlackLivesMatter, the social activist group that opposes police brutality, not police.
Obama's invitation to the Muslim teen was also criticized by Fox News "Outnumbered" co-host Andrea Tantaros today, reports MediaMatters.org:
This clock, does anyone think that it did not look like a dangerous weapon out of a "Die Hard " movie? What the president did, Sandra, by elevating this story to national attention, is he basically got rid of "if you see something, say something." The teacher did her job. We have an FBI document out there right now that talks about what to look for. Okay?
This is part of it and we've seen terror attacks before. We've seen them use cell phones and innate objects. And look, Ahmed is a smart kid. He's probably going to go to MIT and make a ton of money, but he did a really dumb thing and brought it to school and the president just elevated this to a national issue that doesn't deserve elevating frankly.
