MSNBC's Rachel Maddow recently reported that "birther" Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) led the federal government shutdown in the House of Representatives.
According to Maddow, Rep. Meadows urged House Speaker John Boehner to shut down the U.S. government unless Obamacare was defunded in a letter that he wrote to Boehner in September (video below).
"Mark Meadows got eighty signatures in Congress for that letter and John Boehner shut down the government by exactly the means that Mark Meadows demanded," reported Maddow.
Maddow added that the "birther" movement "has a different sense of what is normal. They have a different sense of what counts as reasonable politics in America and failing to appreciate that, means that we fail to develop reasonably accurate expectations for their behavior," noted MediaMatters.org.
"Birthers" believe that President Obama was not born in the United States, but rather in a foreign country, usually Kenya, because he has relatives there.
According to The Washington Times, Rep. Meadows stated of President Obama, "We'll send him back home to Kenya or wherever it is."
Maddow also mentioned how the 'birther" movement includes conspiracy theorist Glenn Beck and Sandy Rios, Christian radio host for the American Family Association.
