Tea Party lawmakers, such as Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), have claimed that President Obama would be violating the U.S. Constitution by ordering a limited U.S. military action against Syria without Congressional approval.
After Obama said he would seek a Congressional vote before taking action, the Tea Party went after him again.
According to The Washington Times, Sen. Paul stated on Sunday: “Obama made a grave mistake when he drew a red line. A president should be very careful about setting red lines he’s not going to keep.
“But then again, when you set a red line that was not a good idea to begin with and now you’re going to adhere to it or try to show your machismo, I think then you’re trying to save face and really adding bad policy to bad policy.”
Bill Maher, the host of HBO’s “Real Time,” recently went on Twitter and Facebook to mock Tea Partiers who are still not happy with Obama, noted Mediaite.com.
Maher tweeted: “Kudos to Barry for restoring constitution re war powers. Tea People shld luv it but of course wont cuz President Blackenstein did it."
