Arizona State Rep. Brenda Barton (R) criticized President Barack Obama on her Facebook page Monday, comparing him to Adolf Hitler because National Parks are closed during the government shutdown.
Barton claimed parks workers are not furloughed, rather they are getting paid overtime to keep people out.
“Someone is paying the National Park Service thugs overtime for their efforts to carry out the order of De Fuhrer... where are our Constitutional Sheriffs who can revoke the Park Service Rangers authority to arrest??? Do we have any Sheriffs with a pair?” Barton wrote.
Barton even suggested having county sheriffs in Arizona defy the authority of federal agents.
“In AZ have you considered asking your county elected sheriff if they are considering revoking the arrest powers (that they granted in the first place) to federal agents operating within their county? Your elected sheriff has this authority. Phone your sheriff and ask them,” she wrote.
“The Chief Executive is acting as an Imperial President; without regard to his citizens, only caring about his agenda,” Barton posted this morning.
Her comments garnered criticism from her colleagues in Arizona.
"It's disgusting and it's uncalled for," state House Minority Leader Chad Campbell (D-Phoenix) told The Huffington Post. "We have seen it time and time again from extremists."
In August, Barton made headlines when she posted that she thought every rodeo clown should “wear Obama masks in solidarity with the guy who lost his job because Barry’s hide is so thin!”
