In a recent web interview with Larry King, Naomi Judd discussed her daughter, Ashley Judd'sinterest in running for Senate.
Reports have speculated that the actress was considering a run against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) Preliminary polling by republican and democratic firms showed support for Judd ranked four points above McConnell.
Judd has been a vocal supporter of Barack Obama and the democratic party. When those polled were given more information about Judd's passionate views, she lost a lot of support.
While Judd is keeping her lips sealed about possibly getting in the political game, her mother gave us a little to work with.
“I can tell you she’s very interested in changing the world. And she knows that politics unfortunately right now is one of the ways she could do that."
Judd is an active humanitarian and ambassador for YouthAids prevention program. She has also traveled internationally to raise awareness about poverty. But it's Judd's liberal political views that may make a Kentucky campaign difficult.
Neither Judd nor McConnell have commented publicly. Naomi Judd had this to say:
“OK, here’s the deal. As of right now, she doesn’t know,”
Well Ashley, I'm not sure if you will make the transition from screen to Senate, but maybe politics could use 'Someone Like You'.
