New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner appeared on MSNBC's "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" on Monday night where the host asked him, "What is wrong with you?"
Weiner responded: "I don't understand the question. What is wrong with me that I fight for the issues that I care about everyday, that I have my entire career" (video below).
O'Donnell then asked: "What is wrong with you that you cannot seem to imagine a life without elected office?”
Weiner bristled and fired back: "That's ridiculous. Of course I can."
O'Donnell and Weiner then discussed if the former congressman had a pathological need to be in elective office and what, if any, productive activities Weiner did when he was not in office.
"You went out to make money as a lobbyist," claimed O'Donnell. "Anthony you did the classic hack thing and you know it."
"Lawrence I didn't do it, it's not supported by the evidence," insisted Weiner.
"You made a half million dollars, hustling your services for government intervention, countered O'Donnell.
"I was not a lobbyist," said Weiner.
The two continued their back-and-forth debate into an online version of the show (video below).
