Sen. Ted Cruz's father has garnered much media coverage for his outrageous claims and statements.
Recently the elder Cruz declared the United States to be a "Christian nation" and told President Obama to "go back to Kenya," reported Mother Jones.
Rafael Cruz was furious that President Obama had correctly noted that the U.S. was not a Christian nation, but was comprised of many religions.
According to RightWingWatch.org, Rafael spoke at a Texas men’s prayer meeting over the summer where he claimed that gay marriage rights were part of Marxism (video below).
"You got to realize how Marxist, how socialism works," claimed Rafael. "We need to understand the issues. When you hear all these things about homosexual marriage, this has nothing to do with homosexual rights. Did you know that? The whole objective is the destruction of the traditional family, it has nothing to do with homosexuals, they could care less about homosexuals, they want to destroy the family."
Rafael also said that evolution was a lie that will bring communism into the U.S. (where it has been taught for about 100 years so far).
"I am a scientist, there is nothing scientific about evolution," announced Rafael. But you know something, Karl Marx said it, ‘I can use the teachings of Darwin to promote communism.’ Why? Because communism, or call it socialism if you think communism is too hard a word, necessitates for government to be your god and for government to be your God they need to destroy the concept of God."
"That’s why communism and evolution go hand and hand. Evolution is one of the strongest tools of Marxism because if they can convince you that you came from a monkey, it’s much easier to convince you that God does not exist," added Rafael.
However, evolution does not teach that humans "came from a monkey," but rather that humans and apes have the same ancestor.
There are also many Christians who believe God used evolution to create man.
In another video (below), Rafael claimed the Boy Scouts of America's decision to allow gay scouts means an “increased risk that our children would be exposed to sexual predators.”
