Andrew Hunter, a 24-year-old man from Dawsonville, Georgia, won $250,000 playing Mega Millions with a ticket that was tossed in the trash.
“I didn’t realize you could win $3 for matching one number plus the Mega Ball,” said Hunter, who works at a Taco Mac. “I pulled it out of the trash and cashed it in for three more tickets.”
Amazingly, one of those tickets won him $250,000 from Tuesday’s drawing.
“I would have never bought that ticket if I hadn’t pulled the other ticket out of the trash,” Hunter added. “I don’t think it’s really hit me yet.”
Hunter says he plans to invest most of his prize. He bought the winning ticket at a Quik Trip store in Cumming, Georgia.
No word on whether or not he intends to keep his job, as many lotto winners often claim to do.
