Starbucks Selling 'Costa Rica Finca Palmilera' Coffee for $7 a Cup

Starbucks has started selling a specialty coffee called 'Costa Rica Finca Palmilera' that costs $7 for a 16-ounce grande cup, making it the most expensive drink sold by the Seattle-based company, reports Bloomberg News.

Lisa Passe, a Starbucks spokeswoman, said in a statement that the Costa Rica Finca Palmilera coffee is "made from a rare, difficult-to-grow varietal called Geisha. The new coffee is available at only 46 locations in the U.S. Northwest with expensive Clover brewing machines."

“We have loyal reserve customers who are interested in any opportunity to try something as rare and exquisite as the Geisha varietal. We are now offering more reserve coffees than ever before because of customer demand.”

Starbucks, the world’s largest coffee-shop operator, saw its stock rise 1.5 percent to $50.99 with today's announcement. The stock has gone up 9.1 percent this year.
