Self-proclaimed prophet Cindy Jacobs preached at Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, Texas, in January where she claimed that her prayer team somehow saved the U.S. economy in 2008 (video below).
Jacobs claimed that God told her the economy was going to completely crash unless she got her prayer teams together to pray at stock exchanges all over the world, reports RightWingWatch.org.
"[God] said, 'I want you to take prayer teams to Wall Street and begin to pray because if you do, then the economy will not completely crash.' That was in January, nothing had happened. The economy actually shook in Septmber of 2008," said Jacobs. "We contacted God TV, we had prayer teams ready to go on the stock market floor. The Lord said to me, 'It will be worldwide.'"
Jacobs then wrote a "prayer guide" and coordinated prayer at "about 100 stock exchanges at that time."
Jacobs added that economists "do not know why the economy did not completely crater worldwide, but we know, don't we? Because we prayed."
Actually, economists (and millions of other people) do know why the economy didn't fully crash — because of the TARP bailouts signed by President Bush and President Obama in late 2008 and early 2009.
