Pro-Life Group Calls for Girl Scouts Cookie Boycott Based On False Claims

In December 2013, the Girl Scouts of the USA tweeted a link to a Huffington Post article about ladies who should be “women of the year, which included Beyonce, Malala Yousafzai and Texas State. Sen. Wendy Davis (D).

Based on that tweet, a pro-life group claims the Girl Scouts have endorsed “pro-abortion" politician Wendy Davis and are calling for a boycott of Girl Scouts cookies, reports

The boycott was started by John Pisciotta, head of a very small pro-life group in Waco, Texas.

Pisciotta is also angry that the Girl Scouts' Facebook page linked to an article in The Washington Post that favorably mentioned HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

“The Girl Scouts were once a truly amazing organization, but it has been taken over by ideologues of the left, and regular folks just will not stand for it," Pisciotta told "Anyone who cares about this ought to go to and find out why.” makes the false claim that "the Girl Scouts recently endorsed pro-abortion politicians Wendy Davis and Kathleen Sebelius as worthy role models for our children." also makes several other false claims about the Girl Scouts and links to another anti-Girl Scouts website as its proof.

However, in reality, the Girl Scouts have not endorsed Davis or Sebelius and do not take a position on abortion, notes The Washington Post.

Davis, who is running for governor in Texas, made headlines last year when she filibustered a state bill (for 17 hours) that would not allow victims of rape or incest victims to have an abortion after 20 weeks.
