On Tuesday, no one matched the six numbers on Mega Millions lottery, bringing Friday's jackpot to $476 million, which would be the largest purse ever.
Tuesday's numbers were 9, 19, 34, 44, 51 and the Mega number was 24.
However, nine people from California were able to match five numbers. Six of those tickets were sold in Southern California, while three more sold in Sacramento, Redding and Mill Valley, California.
The Los Angeles Times reports that "lottery officials had placed the odds of winning Mega Millions at about 1 in 176 million. The retailer who sells the winning ticket will receive a maximum $1-million bonus."
