Welcome to the premiere of the latest Obama reelection campaign video, starring Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Sarah Palin and Fox News.
All that anxiety on the Republican side of the fence during their bloody, protracted primary process seems to have been warranted. It took the Obama-affiliated Super PAC less than two months to concoct a damning two-minute attack built entirely from Republican sound bites.
Think it hurts Romney to hear Obama surrogates criticize his record at Bain Capital? Try listening to those same indictments from the lips of Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich. Relive the eve of the New Hampshire Primary, when Rick Perry coined the phrase “vulture capitalism” as a way to describe Romney’s dubious business practices.
The Obama campaign isn't wasting any time defining Mitt Romney in the eyes of the electorate before he has a chance to define himself. As part of the framing process, they appear committed to the Bain line of attack - a prudent course based on the success Ted Kennedy had running the same offensive in a Massachusetts senate competition.
Given Mitt Romney's out-of-touch, rich guy persona, it shouldn't take too much to make these attacks stick. From the looks of the video below, the Republicans themselves have already done a fair amount of the legwork for them.
