A woman swimming at Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana beach on New Year’s Eve was stabbed in the leg by a fish (video below).
In a video of the incident, the woman is getting the fish removed from her leg by a friend after a lengthy attempt. According to the description of the cringe-worthy incident, posted to LiveLeak, it is customary in Brazil to “jump seven waves and order in the New Year to bring good luck in the coming year.”
During the celebratory ritual, the woman suddenly felt a sharp pain in her leg and soon realized a fish’s pectoral fin had become lodged in her flesh.
The woman’s friend then carefully removed the fish from her leg, explaining that if it was taken out too quickly it would “rip” her skin.
