Jordanian government officials confirmed early Wednesday morning that they had executed two prisoners that ISIS had previously asked be released.
The decision was made following the distribution of a video that seemingly showed ISIS setting fire to captured Jordanian pilot, Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh, as he stood trapped inside a cage.
In response that horrific video, Jordan vowed swift revenge – which they ultimately delivered.
Sajida al-Rishawi and Ziyad al-Karbouli were both executed by hanging at dawn Wednesday. The former was a known al-Qaeda associate who served as an aide to the group’s leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. She was captured following a failed attempt to blow herself up in a hotel.
Jordanian officials vow that they will seek further revenge for the horrific manner in which their pilot was killed off by ISIS.
