Former Mexican President Vicente Fox announced on Feb. 25 that his country was not going to pay for a border wall that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has promised Mexico would pay for (video below).
“I declare, I’m not going to pay for that f----- wall," Fox told journalist Jorge Ramos, reported Fusion. “He should pay for it. He’s got the money.”
Fox was asked by Ramos if he was scared about Trump becoming the next president of the United States, and Fox said: “Not at all. Democracy cannot take that, crazy people that doesn't know what is going on in the world today.”
Fox went on to say the Hispanics who voted for Trump in Nevada's GOP caucus are "followers of a false prophet," and offered a plea:
Please, you Hispanics, Latinos in the U.S., open your eyes. It’s not to defend our race. It's not to to defend our creed. It’s to defend this very same nation that is hosting you.
This nation is going to fail if it goes into the hands of a crazy guy. What is Trump? He's not a Republican. Absolutely not. Those are not the Republican principles. He's not a Democrat. He is just himself. He is egocentric.
Trump was asked about Fox's comments and how he was going to force Mexico to pay for the wall during the GOP debate on Feb. 25 by CNN host Wolf Blitzer.
I will, and the wall just got ten feet taller. Believe me, it got ten feet taller. I saw him make the statement. I saw him use the word that he used.
I can only tell you that if I would have used even half of that word it would have been national scandal. This guy used a filthy, disgusting word on television and he should be ashamed of himself and he should apologize, OK?
Trump said that his 1,000-mile wall would cost between $10-$12 billion, but didn't say how he was going to force Mexico to pay for it.
He blamed Mexico for taking U.S. manufacturing plants out of America, even though U.S. corporations have chosen to move their plants to Mexico.
Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida said that if Trump builds the wall like he built Trump Towers, he will use "illegal immigrant labor," which Trump later denied. Rubio then told the audience to Google "Donald Trump Polish workers."
Rubio also said that Trump's clothing line is made in China and Mexico, and told the billionaire to make his clothing in America.
Trump called Rubio a "lousy businessman," and Rubio said that he didn't know anything about "bankrupting four companies."
