Mikaela Kellner, an off-duty police officer, wrestled an alleged cellphone thief to the ground while in her bikini in Stockholm, Sweden.
Kellner, who was sunbathing with friends in a park, said a suspicious man was attempting to sell them magazines to supposedly raise money for homeless people, according to The Local.
"I told my friends to keep an eye on their things," Kellner recalled. "But as soon as he left, one of my friends said, 'Where did my mobile phone go?'"
According to Kellner, the man used the magazines to provide cover for his cellphone theft as he lingered near the women.
"There was no time, so I ran after him, maybe [50 feet] or so," Kellner added. "One of my friends is also a police officer, so we got hold of him. He tried to get away so we held onto him harder."
Kellner and her friends then called on-duty officers, who arrested the alleged thief.
She posted a picture of her unusual apprehension on Instagram where it went viral.
"I just acted on instinct and didn't think about it so much until after we had pinned him down," she captioned the Instagram photo, according to The Local. "When I sat there I looked over at our other two friends who are not police officers and realized that it probably looked pretty funny. But I would have stepped in no matter my outfit."
"I've had a lot of positive comments both from friends and colleagues," she continued. "It happens all the time that valuables are taken like this and often you don't notice they're gone until later. I mainly just wanted to raise awareness of how cunning these people are, almost like magicians."
Kellner, who is also a championship bodybuilder, according to The Sun, continued:
A poor homeless guy as you might think trying to do the right thing. He sell newspapers rather than parasitic !! When we declines to buy his newspapers he fits in to steal my cell phone!! Very cleverly him when he sneaks down their newspapers over the phone and can then bring it with ease!!
Osis for this guy because he happened to steal two poliser!! My initial intervention while wearing a bikini during my 11 years as police!! Pretty fun and pleasant, I must say! Beware of pickpockets, keep track of your valuables!!
