Anna del Bono is facing up to six years in prison for “mistreatment within the family” - a charge which was levied against her by her estranged husband, 46-year-old Vincenzo Altobelli.
Altobelli claimed in a court in Sonnino, central southern Italy, that del Bono failed to cook and clean, as well as “unfairly” denying him sex, Metro reported. “'I would wake up at 3:30 a.m. to go to work and come back at seven in the evening. My children told me that dinner was never ready when they returned from school and they had to make do. For dinner I had to get by on pizza or cook myself,” Altobelli claimed, according to the Daily Mail.
He also alleged that she was cruel to him and their two sons. “The fact that she did not prepare lunch for our kids is only a small detail. She used to beat us repeatedly, she used to throw bowls of cold water over my head, lock the door to the marital bedroom and call me ‘handicapped'."
Del Bono refuted the claims. “I have always taken care of the house and looked after the children. As far as I'm concerned I have done nothing to him. I am a peaceful woman,” she told the Daily Mail.
The case will go to trial on Oct. 12, although the couple has been separated for two years. Del Bono has started seeing someone else.
