Last night was the LIVE premiere of MTV’s Ultimate Parkour Challenge and this first challenge allowed the parkour athletes a once in a life time experience-free reign over the entire Queen Mary
Parkour, the world’s fastest growing extreme sport, is the physical discipline of training to overcome any obstacle within one’s path by adapting one’s movements to the environment. On MTV’s Ultimate Parkour Challenge some of the best athletes in the world including Danny Ilabaca, Ryan Doyle, Oleg Vorslav, and Tim Schieff challenge themselves and each other as they put their parkour skills to the test in different urban environments. I made it out to the Queen Mary last night to check out the course and watch the LIVE premiere.
The different aspects of the ship like ropes, balconies, and the mast offered great obstacles for the parkour athletes to show-off their talents. I never thought I would see someone flip, climb, leap and fly, over balconies, railings, and 8-foot gaps above the Pacific Ocean. Watching the athletes is almost like seeing Spiderman in real life! The control they have over their bodies is incredible and they are absolutely fearless. If you missed last night’s Queen Mary challenge, you can watch it here.
Make sure to tune-in to MTV’s Ultimate Parkour Challenge Thursdays at 10:30/9:30c as the athletes take Venice Beach, Hollywood High, and many other L.A. locations.
