Will Smith’s 9-year-old daughter, Willow, is about to hit the big time – she’s signed a record deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation record label.

Smith’s first song, Whip My Hair, has been doing the rounds on the interwebnet this week, and it’s caught the attention of Jay-Z.

Describing the track, he says: “I was like, ‘Man, that record’s a smash.’ And then [Roc Nation partner] Jay Brown said, ‘She’s 9,’ and I was like, ‘Whoa!’ And [then] he was like, ‘She’s Will and Jada’s daughter,’ and I was like, ‘Whoa!’ and it just went from there.”

He adds: “She has a child’s innocence but she has a clear vision of who she is and who she wants to be,” he continued. “I can only imagine that’s how Mike [Michael Jackson] was as a young kid, he knew exactly what he wanted.”

Addressing talk that Smith may be a tad young to be thrust into the spotlight, he adds, “When you have that sort of talent, there is no such thing as too young.”
