After a very successful UFC 124 event in Montreal, over $300,000 was given out in the form of bonuses and rewards to the participants.
For the first time, UFC president Dana White allowed the fans to select the “Fight of the Night.” After a thrilling display, Georges St. Pierre and Josh Koscheck got the nod for putting on the best overall bout. As a reward, both pocketed an extra $100,000.
After the event, White said he didn’t feel as though that was truly the “Fight of the Night,” and would no longer allow fans to vote for the award. Rather, he would have awarded Sean Pierson and Matt Riddle for their outstanding performance.
The “Knockout of the Night” ended up going to Mac Danzig who watched his bankroll get increased by $100,000 for his impressive performance against Joe Stevenson.
Mark Bocek and Jim Miller who both pulled off great submissions in their respective bouts, walked away with $50,000 apiece for “Submission of the Night.” Bocek ended his match-up against Dustin Hazelett with a triangle choke while Miller utilized a knee bar in his effort to defeat Charles Oliveira.
