Teacher Ashley Blumenshine recently pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with an unidentified 16-year-old student.
Blumenshine was arrested in 2011 for allegedly having sex with the 16-year-old boy, reports the Daily Mail.
Police found Blumenshine in her car with a partially-nude teenager outside a Kohl's store in Plainfield, Illinois in 2011. She was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Blumenshine, 27, taught dance and physical education at Plainfield North High School, but resigned shortly after her arrest. Police say her relationship with the teen went on for over a month.
She was sentenced to two years of probation, 30 days in jail and is required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
Blumenshine surrendered to sheriff’s deputies on Friday to serve her jail sentence, but has credit for four days served, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
According to a letter that Blumenshine wrote in January 2012, she stated: "In my wildest dreams I never would have thought that this turn of events would have happened to me. 'Somewhere within a few months time, I lost Ashley. I can not take back what I did; I can only show everyone including myself that I am a good person and one who will never make the same mistake twice."
Blumenshine is currently working as a bank teller, dating a man from her church and says she has found God.
