This isn’t terribly surprising. In his two years as defensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans, Chuck Cecil never got his side of the ball ranked higher than 26th in the league. And that’s with a defensive line coach that they lineman sacking errr body out hee-yah.
So, the Titans today let Cecil know that they didn’t appreciate his work. According to Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean, they canned him.
“#Titans defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil was informed on Thursday he will not be retained by team, according to sources,” Wyatt tweeted.
One would think that ownership didn’t appreciate Cecil flipping the bird to officials during an October game, but then again Bud Adams would be the one owner that might have supported it.
We don’t think Cecil will get another coordinator job any time soon (unless the Philadelphia Eagles are dying to infuse their staff with mostly Titans), but he’ll probably get a job coaching someone’s secondary.
