The Event

We at the Texas Yoga Conference feel that our inaugural conference this past February was a huge success, and we appreciate the part many of you played in making it so! It’s exciting and inspiring to witness the magic that happens when businesses with like-mindedness and teachers with such diverse lineages and unique approaches come together to share their love of yoga! And it’s just as exciting and inspiring to see how things are falling into place for the 2011 Texas Yoga Conference, which will be held February 25 – 27, 2011, at the lovely University of St. Thomas – Jerabeck Athletic Center – in Houston, Texas.

We recently booked MC Yogi in 2011 with Sean Johnson playing afterward on Saturday, February 26, 2010. We also have a first annual Bhakti Bash planned that weekend to be led by Sean Johnson and the Wild Lotus Band. We also have Duncan Wong, Sadie Nardini & KK Ledford in the line-up and of course all of our fabulous Texas talent! To promote the talent and spirit of Texas is our mission.

duncan wong yoga Texas Yoga Conference | FREE Ticket Giveaway!

Duncan Wong

Growing up with backyard martial arts and the realness of street fighting in the rural delta region of Northern California, juxtaposed with the influence of my grandfather’s Gung-Fu practice and incense burning rituals, and formal dojang [Korean martial arts school] training; with my Buddhist master, in San Francisco’s Chinatown and Japan Town, I was never a stranger to the intuitive reflexes and highs associated with physicality. These early memories and experiences led me to my own life-long pursuit of the dynamic practices of Astanga Vinyasa [eight limbs of flowing motion] yoga and Kuk Sool Won [traditional Korean Buddhist] martial arts. Forming such a foundation in my youth and teenage years, I practiced the way of the sword, and You Won Hwa [flowing circular harmony] while perfecting my asanas [postural stances] and ‘floating’ [advanced aerial arm balancing] techniques. I learned the art of the dual-edged path, cultivating both disciplines simultaneously throughout my twenties.
