17-year-old Taylor Momsen, star of Gossip Girl and frontwoman of the band The Pretty Reckless, wants you to know why she is miserable, dark and dismal.
It’s all her parents' fault. I’d like to disagree with her, but she is partially right.
Taylor says her parents are stage parents, like a LOT of child stars out there, and that she wasn’t allowed to grow up leading a normal childhood: instead she had to work – even before she was walking.
“Everyone’s like, ‘Wow, why is she upset and why is she so miserable about things?’ My parents signed me up with Ford [modeling agency] at the age of two. No two-year-old wants to be working, but I had no choice. My whole life, I was in and out of school. I didn’t have friends. I was working constantly and I didn’t have a real life.”
Ok, fair enough. I get it. But now is time for you to take responsibility for yourself, Taylor. Life is what YOU make it from here on out. Please don’t end up being one of those who simply lie down and play the victim for the rest of your life. That’s no way to live. At some point you have to accept your past, good or bad, pick up the pieces and make the rest of your life what YOU want it to be. Now get to work!
