Woman Who Falsely Accused NFL Seahawks Player Marshawn Lynch of Assault Could Face Jail Time

A woman who claimed Seattle Seahawks’ running back Marshawn Lynch punched her in the face could spend a year in jail for falsely accusing the NFL player, when it turns out she may have “drunkenly fell on her face,” reports the Daily Mail.

Jammie Ficarelli, 31, told police the 28-year-old football player punched her in the face on the night of Aug. 10 and damaged her Louis Vuitton purse. Police say the woman was inebriated that night and that she mistook a different man – who is a 5-foot-11 African American man with dreadlocks – for Lynch.

Ficarelli reportedly told cops she was invited over to the man’s apartment for drinks after she emerged from a night out at the Blue Martini bar in Bellevue, Washington. The woman claims she called the man a racial slur while at his home and that he punched her. She then says both she and the man she thought was Lynch left the apartment together and she chased him around the complex because of damage that had been caused to her expensive handbag. When she couldn’t catch him, Ficarelli says she contacted police and took a cab home, reports the Bellevue Reporter.

The resident of the apartment says he never identified himself as the football star and that he had asked the woman to leave after realizing she was very drunk and having mood swings.

A security guard at the man’s apartment complex told cops he witnessed the man trying to get away from Ficarelli on the night of the incident.

As she was asked to leave the property, it is alleged that Ficarelli fell down and hit the right side of her face on the pavement. She suffered from a red mark under her eye, chipped front tooth, scratches and bruises.

If prosecutors press charges against Ficarelli, she could face a sentence of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine for making false or misleading statements to a pubic servant.
