No Bikinis for Women's Beach Volleyball Players at 2012 London Olympics?

| by Alex Groberman

Women’s beach volleyball fans can be separated into two distinct categories: 1.) legitimate, hardcore fans who appreciate the skill and talent required to play volleyball in a beach environment, and 2.) guys looking to ogle pretty women who jump around in bikinis.

Come the 2012 London Olympics, one of those two groups may end up being a little disappointed at what they see on their TVs.

As reported by Yahoo! Sports, the forecast for next week’s games “calls for highs in the 60s early next week, with up to a 30 percent chance of rain.” While the usual beach volleyball uniforms (bikinis) suffice for warm-weather matches, what appears to be on the horizon in London most definitely ain’t that.

Which means that the unthinkable might actual end up happening: beach volleyball players might be forced to cover up.

"We need it to keep our muscles warm," said Australian Tamsin Hinchley to Yahoo! Sports.

How will they keep their muscles warm? That remains to be seen. Personally, I’m rooting for parkas. Hope Solo's method has been known to keep people warm, too.

The London games tip off this weekend on NBC.
