In one of the toughest and most controversial calls in the NHL this season, the Chicago Blackhawks thought they had scored the game-winning goal against the Arizona Coyotes in overtime on Feb. 9.
Coyotes’ goalie Mike Smith somehow stopped Andrew Shaw’s shot right before the entire puck cleared the red line and then Brandon Saad shot the puck again, which hit the crossbar.
The whole play happened in the last 20 seconds of overtime, but after the period was over, officials had to review the play to make sure they got the call right. Here is the video to see if you can see for yourself whether the puck cleared the red line or not.
The Coyotes ended up winning the game 3-2 in the shootout.
