Is Falcons' Julio Jones About to Have a Really Big Year?

| by

Falcons training camp opens July 26th but it feels like that date will never get here. The first pre-season game is Thursday August 9th as the Falcons host the Baltimore Ravens but there is a scrimmage before that date that might interest some of the Falcons fans.

On Friday August 3rd, the Falcons will once again take their game to a high school at their "Friday Night Lights" event. This year it will be at Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee and is slated to run from 6:45 to 9:10. The event is free for the public. Let's take a trip around the net to see what people are saying about the Falcons:

Jerry Rice sees a breakout year for Julio Jones

Appearing on SportsCenter Wednesday, ESPN’s Jerry Rice nominated Jones as his top breakout wide receiver for 2012.

“I love this kid,” said Rice. “He’s awesome. He’s big, he’s fast. … I think he’s gonna have a breakout season this coming year.”

Mike Smith knows he will be judged by the Falcons playoffs

"I think ultimately we are both going to be judged on success in the postseason," Smith said on Wednesday via D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "There have been a lot of teams and a lot of players that have broken through and gotten that first win. That's why we are doing everything in our power to figure out how to get that done.

Falcons DEs will fall back into coverage less

Edwards said Nolan expects him to “put relentless pressure on the quarterback” and to get after the quarterback non-stop.

“Last year we had a lot of drop-back with us, but now it’s just getting after the quarterback and making things happen,” said Edwards.
