An unnamed Kansas City Chiefs player died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound early Saturday morning at the team training facility.
According to Kansas City Police spokesperson Kathy Childs, the incident occurred at around 7:50 a.m. near Arrowhead Stadium. While the name of the player in question is known by authorities, it has not yet been released.
Numerous outlets are reporting that the player in question shot himself after murdering his girlfriend.
The Chiefs released this statement regarding the incident:
"We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning. We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation."
