Peter Tebow isn’t the only happy person in Denver today.
A day after his Broncos got knocked out of championship contention, Mike McCoy has emerged as the most highly sought-after head coaching candidate in the NFL right now. The savvy offensive coordinator who put together back-to-back successful runs with Tim Tebow and Peyton Manning has already interviewed with the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals, and according to multiple reports has the Jacksonville Jaguars and San Diego Chargers extremely interested in him as well.
Here is a quick rundown of the latest gossip as it pertains to McCoy:
As I noted on THE NFL TODAY, with Denver out, SD and Jags expected to interview Mike McCoy. AZ, PHI and CHI already have met with him— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) January 13, 2013
As I told you yesterday, more interviews lining up for Denver OC Mike McCoy. He'll meet with the Chargers next— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) January 13, 2013
LaConfora said on CBS the #Jaguars will try to interview Mike McCoy if the Broncos lose today.— Jeremy Nettles (@tealtalk) January 12, 2013
It goes without saying that if McCoy ultimately lands in Jacksonville the Tebow rumors will ramp up again. However, seeing as Jacksonville is probably the least desirable vacancy around and McCoy seems to be the it guy of the moment, the odds of that coming together are slim.
