In case you live in a cave during the off-season, the Falcons have been getting a nice buzz during their OTAs (Organized Team Activities). I thought it would be interesting to take a look around the web this weekend to see what's being said about the Falcons...
“I think you guys saw that he lined up on the left side and he lined up on the right side,” Smith said. “The thing that Asante allows us to do is it gives us a lot of flexibility in terms of how we want to line up our players. That’s something that coach [new defensive coordinator Mike] Nolan and the staff have spent a lot of time discussing and something we’ll look at very strongly, very closely through these next nine OTA’s.”
As good as things can appear, it doesn't always translate to immediate success. This will likely very much be the case with the Falcons' secondary going into next season, regardless of how much talent has amassed in Atlanta (see: Philadelphia Eagles 2011 season).

One thing Konz will have to adjust to in Atlanta is the heat. He is a native of Wisconsin and is unaccustomed to the raw heat and humidity that will be experienced here in the south. When asked about how he was dealing with the heat, his response was, “Do they have like those little air conditioners in the helmets yet? I heard the humidity is horrible down here.”
Falcons starting defensive tackle Corey Peters suffered a foot injury this offseason and is expected back by the start of training camp, according to the team.
The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have signed defensive end Jonathan Massaquoi, which puts all six rookies drafted by the Falcons in 2012 under contract.
In the past, the Falcons have usually carried only 5 defensive ends and 5 defensive tackles. That could change this year, but it still looks to be one of the more intriguing stories in preseason and if they stay with only 5 defensive ends, someone may be on the outside looking in.
