The era of David Stern is ending on February 1, 2014.
Multiple reports have David Stern stepping down as commissioner of the NBA. Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver is expected to replace him when he steps down.
David Stern has been widely credited for helping give the NBA a worldwide audience. The league has also expanded to 30 teams during his era. But along the way, two lockouts happened (1998, 2011) that shortened those seasons.
Nevertheless, David Stern, 70, has made his mark in the league. Stern has been commissioner since February 1, 1984 and will end his reign exactly 30 years after.
