Dale Earnhardt Jr. kicked the weekend off in style on Friday when he initiated what would ultimately turn into a 12-car wreck at Daytona International Speedway. The accident was so hilariously massive that the powers that be basically had to shut down a three-day test session just to deal with the fallout.
Earnhardt Jr. triggered the crash when he hit Marcus Ambrose and turned him into a wall. Ambrose’s car, in turn, bounced across the track and knocked the likes of Car Edwards, Kyle Busch, Jamie McMurray, Regan Smith, Martin Truex Jr., Brad Keselowski and Kasey Kahne out of commission. The latter’s car in particular suffered a lot of damage.
Needless to say, a lot of teams ultimately decided to pack up their toys and go home after the wreck.
