Just a few days ago, the general consensus was that the San Francisco Giants were done. You can’t blow the first two games at home and then come back to win in the NLDS, people said. You can’t have the sort of hitting the Giants have and come back against a team that’s clicking on all cylinders like the Cincinnati Reds, people said.
The hitting sure did look good in the fifth inning of today's showdown, though, didn't it? When it was all said and done the Giants held off a late rally by the Reds to win 6-4, and in doing so guaranteed themselves a berth in the NLCS.
Their second in three years, no less.
Next up for San Francisco? The winner of Friday’s Game 5 showdown between the Washington Nationals and the St. Louis Cardinals.
