Albert Pujols has had a rough start to his 2012 season. Heading into Sunday’s game between the Angels and Blue Jays, the slugger had zero homers in over 100 at bats. And the fact that Pujols’ slump was coming on the heels of him inking a 10-year, $240 million with the Angels made the media scrutiny and pressure involved all the worse.
On Sunday, the clouds parted and Pujols finally knocked one out of the ball park – a bomb that helped propel his squad to a 4-3 victory. Of course, as you would expect, his teammates couldn’t just let him exhale and revel in the moment without giving him a little grief. As Pujols rounded the bases, all of the Angels players in the dugout decided to hide in the clubhouse – leaving Pujols completely alone once he got back to the dugout.
The whole thing added a bit of levity to what has otherwise been a pretty tough few weeks for arguably one of the greatest hitters of all time.
