Disgraced MLB Legend Roger Clemens is Returning to Baseball, Will Play for Sugar Land Skeeters

| by

He’s Baaack! Roger Clemens is returning to baseball…

Clemens who turned 50-years old on August 4th signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League on Monday and he is expected to start for the minor league team on Saturday at home against Bridgeport. Clemens’ manager is former major leaguer Gary Gaetti and he joins a roster that includes former major league pitchers Tim Redding and Scott Kazmir and Jason Lane, a teammate of Clemens’ on Houston’s 2005 World Series team.

Clemens has been clocked at 87 MPH which is pretty darned good for a 50-year old, but hardly something that will get him back into the majors. Consider the fact that that R.A. Dickey throws his knuckle ball at 80 MHP and you get the point. So is this a one-time thing? Is this a stunt? Is he actually trying to make a comeback?

All signs point to Roger trying to prove to the world that he pitched previously without steroids. The theory is that he couldn’t possibly be on steroids now after all this, and if he can get batters out, perhaps some will think that maybe he did not partake in PED’s before. Here’s the thing…

  1. The independent Atlantic League is NOT Major League Baseball. In fact, they are independent and not in any way affiliated other than they are playing baseball.
  2. There is no testing for steroids in the independent Atlantic League, they are independent and will do anything it takes to put fans customers in the seats. Take a look at some of the misfits that have played in the independent league before, the list reads like a “where are they now” of baseball. Are there players who have made it to the show or back to the show playing by playing in the independent Atlantic League? Sure there are, but Roger isn’t going to be one of them…

Clemens’ presence  on a baseball field (or anywhere for that matter) is like one of those nightmares that just keeps coming back without anything you can do to stop it from happening. This guy just won’t go away…

Please go away Roger. Please.
