The last time Tiger Woods played at Torrey Pines he earned his worst finish ever. That apparently won’t derail him from giving it another shot, though, as the world’s most polarizing golfer has committed to joining Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson and Brandt Snedeker at the Farmers Insurance Open.
The event is scheduled to take place from Jan. 24-Jan. 27.
Last year, Woods skipped the Farmers Insurance Open to play Abu Dhabi. Fortunately, this year, because that tournament is being played a week earlier, he is going to be able to participate in both events.
"Obviously, I've had good success at Torrey Pines," Woods told ESPN, a nod to the seven victories he has accumulated there over the course of his career.
Of course, it’s also worth noting that the last time he played there he finished 44th – only the second time in 12 appearances that he finished outside the top 10.
Here is to hoping that 2013 proves to be a better year for Tiger than the past few have been.
