PGA golfer Stephen Thomas was among 40 people arrested in a huge undercover sex sting involving minors, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday.
The undercover operation in question ran from Jan. 8 through Feb. 16 and went by the name “Operation Red Cheeks.” As per the Orlando Sentinel, it essentially centered around undercover detectives posing as children online and then chatting with the suspects. Once the relationships deepened a bit, the suspects allegedly arranged meeting in locations around Osceola County for sex with the children they thought they were communicating with or about.
Thomas, 55, is being accused of chatting with a woman about sex with her 13-year-old daughter. He reportedly agreed to meet the teen with the intention of having sex with her and, apparently, sent photos of himself golfing to the person he was communicating with.
When investigators searched Thomas’ vehicle after his arrest, the Sentinel notes that they found “three condoms, two packages of chocolate pudding and a bottle of honey.” He reportedly confessed to the accusations shortly thereafter.
Thomas has participated in 44 total PGA tournaments and has had one top-10 finish.
