The main reason for watching beach volleyball at the Olympics is to see women prancing around in bikinis (oh, also something about competition or some nonsense). But now that has been taken away from us -- women can now wear t-shirts and shorts instead.
The International Volleyball Federation said it is making the change in response to complaints from more conservative countries.
"Many of these countries have religious and cultural requirements, so the uniform needed to be more flexible," said Federation spokesman Richard Baker.
Women will now be allowed to wear "shorts of a maximum length of (1.18 inches) above the knee, and sleeved or sleeveless tops."
The new rule has already been in effect at several Olympic qualifiying tournaments.
