UFC 159 hit the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday night, and for the most part the event went off exactly the way people figured it would.
Roy Nelson displayed his ridiculous knockout power. Michael Bisping wore down Alan Belcher with his underrated, fast-paced attack. Phil Davis took Vinny Magalhaes to school, ensuring that no one dismisses his top-10 status ever again. Pat Healy, who it’s worth remembering, might have ended up becoming Strikeforce’s Lightweight champ if Gilbert Melendez hadn’t ducked him, finished Jim Miller with a devastating choke in the third round of their bout.
All that being said, UFC 159 was hyped because of its main event. How did that much-discussed clash between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen go? Mostly the way you figured it would when you initially heard about it. Here are the fight highlights:
