After all of his trash talk and incessant whining about not getting enough respect, Nick Diaz came out at UFC 158 and did exactly what everyone knew he would do: nothing. The polarizing 29-year-old star got worked in every facet of the game, and by the time the fight was over, a lot of fans at home were clamoring to get their money back.
One of the big myths heading into this showdown was that Diaz was a vastly superior boxer to St-Pierre. While he is marginally better, maybe, he didn’t show it for four out of five rounds on Saturday night. In the biggest fight of his career, coming off a year when he had all the time in the world to train and prepare, he laid an egg.
Diaz is extremely entertaining when he goes into full-on train wreck mode – but he certainly isn’t a top-tier welterweight in the UFC.
