A lot of people have doubted Oregon this season. Despite the fact that the Ducks, unquestionably, have the most potent offensive attack in college football, critics -- prior to this weekend -- couldn’t help but point to this team’s weak schedule and note that it hadn’t beaten anyone of note. And while that’s a questionable argument, you can sort of see why it would leave critics with doubts.
One person who doesn’t doubt how good Oregon is? Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Check out the bet he dropped on Chip Kelly’s squad a few weeks back, before they took on Arizona State (we didn’t photoshop all those zeroes in, that’s his actual receipt):
I bet $1,100,000 on Oregon to make a million dollars instagr.am/p/RjQTxnR3Wl/— Floyd Mayweather (@FloydMayweather) November 3, 2012
That’s right: he bet $1.1 million to win $1 million. Needless to say, he was probably a.) really confident in how good Oregon was, b.) really confident in how bad Arizona State would be, or c.) too rich for it to matter.
Oregon ultimately won that one 43-21.
