Adrien Broner stamped his authority on the super-featherweight division with a fifth round TKO over Vicente Escobedo.
The fight had looked to have been called off when Broner failed to make the 130 pound super-featherweight limit, however despite the confusion, the American took to the ring in what may have been his last fight before stepping up to lightweight.
Broner (24-0) is rumoured to be in line for a mandatory challenge of Ricky Burns’ WBO lightweight title, although the Scotsman must first get past fellow Brit Kevin Mitchell in September.
Escobedo slips to 26-4, however he will hope to have another shot at the WBO super-featherweight title having accepted a match-up with Broner fight despite the weight controversy.
