The mother of a young UK woman said her daughter is lucky to be alive after she was attacked by a group of teenagers.
Kayla Branscombe was walking home from the Farmers Arms pub in Moreton with her boyfriend, Jason, when a group of around 15 teenage boys and girls began shouting at them. Branscombe replied, then braced for a “senseless and unprovoked attack” by the teenagers.
The attack occurred around 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning on Pasture Road.
Branscombe was so battered and bruised that at one point her boyfriend thought she was dead. According to Laura Branscombe, Kayla’s mother, the 22-year-old has a lump on the back of her head, a swollen face, a torn ear and footprints on her shoulder.
“If it hadn’t been for her boyfriend trying to fight them off it could have been a completely different outcome,” Mrs. Branscombe said. “Jason was distraught, he was so upset he couldn’t do more.”
According to Jason, some of the boys were filming the event.
Mrs. Branscombe noted that her daughter will no longer go out at night.
A number of witnesses have been spoken to by officers so far, and police are currently looking into acquiring CCTV of the area. A full investigation has since been launched into the incident.
