Police in Atlanta, Georgia, began a search for two male suspects who allegedly attacked a woman and attempted to steal her car (video below).
Surveillance footage shows Jasmine Warren giving money to a homeless man and then being rushed by two young men as she turns around.
Warren quickly began fighting them off.
“When I looked into that little boy's eyes, I could see fear just as much as I was scared,” she told ABC News of the moment she looked one of her attackers in the face.
The young men reportedly got into her car and attempted to drive off, but she opened the door and reached for a gun near the driver’s seat and then grabbed her keys.
“I yank the keys down," she said. "Key breaks in the ignition. The car was no longer accessible for them to move."
The young men then took her cellphone and fled."
“I'll say my life was spared 'cause I could have been shot," Warren told ABC News. "You never know."
One of the men pointed a gun at her during the incident, WXIA reports.
“As many times as he kept saying that he was going to do it, he didn’t do it," Warren said. "He wouldn’t do it ... I don’t know if the gun was loaded ... you never really know."
“You’re wrong for trying to rob from me. It’s not the end of the world for you. It doesn’t mean that you can’t change and make changes in your life,” she said, speaking directly to the young men via WXIA. “It's up to you and I’m willing to help you make those changes. It doesn’t make you a bad person. You’ve done something bad but you can always be forgiven for it."
She even offered to help the men.
“I understand ya’ll wanted to rob and take from me, but I care for you and I still would like the help you whatever it takes," she added. "I just want to help you. Make it better for yourself."
