Guess What This Driver Was Looking At When He Crashed Into A 20-Year-Old Woman

| by Sarah Fruchtnicht

A truck driver was looking at pornography on his cell phone when he crashed into a car, ultimately killing a 20-year-old driver.

Laura Thomas’ car had broken down, and she and her fiancé had pulled over to the side of the road.

Truck driver Ian Glover, 44, was reportedly browsing explicit dating websites, including Shagaholic.co.uk and Sexuk.com, when he plowed into her car. It flipped over a guard rail, killing Thomas.

She and her fiancé, Lewis Pagett, had been on their way to Wales for a vacation.

"One minute we were standing over the safety barrier on the A5 then the next thing I remember is being on the floor in a heap of rubble,” Pagett told the Daily Mirror. “I got up and looked over at Laura, she was in a bad way. I started performing CPR until paramedics took over."

Thomas died on her way to the hospital. Pagett suffered a head injury and fractured vertebrae.

"Laura and I were looking forward to planning our wedding together - instead, I ended up planning her funeral,” Pagett said. "We had known each other since we were 13, and we were so excited to spend the rest of our lives together. Laura had so much life to give, she had a heart of gold and aimed to become a teacher for disabled children.”

Glover was sentenced to five years in prison by the Shrewsbury Crown Court after he admitted to dangerous driving.

Pagett said the crash was “completely avoidable.”

"It makes me feel sick that Groves killed my girl while looking at porn," said the victim’s mother Lisa Thomas.

She said Glover looked at porn “around 11 times in a less than a mile radius.”

"Glover had enough time to look up and see Lewis's car as he was distracted for around 19 seconds - if you close your eyes and count to 19 you'll realize it's such a long period of time not to look at the road,” she said.

"Losing Laura has left a gaping hole in our family, we think about her every second of every day,” she added. “The experience has been completely soul destroying."
